Jaflong & Srimongol: The natural scenery of sylhet

Jaflong


Jaflong is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet division. Jaflong is a natural tourist spot in the Division of Sylet, Bangladesh . It is located in Gowainghat Upozila of Sylet District and situated at the border between Bangladesh and the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is just below the mountain range. Jaflong is famous for its stone collections and is home of the Khasi tribe. It's about 60 km far from Sylhet town and takes two hours drive to reach there. Jaflong is also a scenic spot nearby amidst tea gardens and rate beauty of rolling stones from hills. It is situated besides the river Mari in the lap of Hill Khashia.
The Mari river is coming from the great Himalayas of India, which bringing million tons of stone boulders with its tide. You can watch the stone collection from the river in Jaflong as well as you can enjoy the boating in the river Mari. Jaflong is totally a hilly area of real natural beauty where hills are greenish with the forests.
Lots of wild animal lives in this forest, so you need to be careful to enter in the forest alone. You can see the lifestyle of Tribe Khashia in Jaflong. If you intend to visit Jaflong it is advisable to start from Sylhet in the early morning so that you can comeback by evening covering the other tourists spots of nearby areas of Jaflong. The other tourist areas nearby Jaflong are Tamabil, Sripur and Jaintapur.
The land grabbers occupied government khas land and reserved forestland and extracted stone by cutting small hills polluting the environment of Jaflong. They also established crushing mills on the forestland without permission from government
Srimongol

Srimongal is the place of tea gardens, hills and forest areas on the hills. Within your eyesight you will find green throughout. Its is famous for the largest tea gardens of world covered by lush green carpet. One can have a look into the spectacular tea processing at Tea Research Institute. Bangladesh produces and exports a large quantity of high quality tea every year. Most of the tea estates are in Sremongol. It is called "The land of two leaves and a bud".

It is also called camellia, green carpet or Tea Mountain. There are a lot of tea estates including the largest one in the world. The terraced tea garden, pineapple, rubber and lemon plantations from a beautiful landscape. It is known as the tea capital in Bangladesh. Just offer entering into the tea estates the nice smells and green beauty will lead you many kilometers away. There are some hotels in Srimongol where you can stay, but if you can manage to stay in the Tea garden that will give you a different type of memorable experience. For that you will have to take the permission from the owner of any tea state.


Travel information
If you want to go to Sreemangal from Dhaka, you may follow the instructions given below. First you go to Kamlapur, Fakirapul and Saedabad of Dhaka city & buy a bus ticket from Dhaka to Sreemangal (Please remember, buses are available very early in the morning. Till noon you will get find any bus from Dhaka to Sreemangal). When you reach Srimongal, you will be dropped at Dhaka bus stand. You can rent a rickswa for going Choumohona at Sreemangal. Actually Choumohona is the center of Sreemangal town. There you will find several hotel like Hill town Rest House(Vanuganj Road), United, Tea town, Rain Forest Rest House(Habiganj Road) etc. el .Tea Resort is also available. To avail tea resort booking is mandatory. Its cost around 5000 BDT for 3 room banglow. Normal hotel is not bad for living 2 or 3 days. You will find there AC & Non-AC rooms at a cheap rate [120tk (Non-AC) to 800tk (AC)]. I was at that hotel for 7 days and their services made me satisfied. After that you can go to Nilkantha Tea stall at Ramnagar or Near BDR camp. For reaching that place please rent a rickswa from Choumohona to Kalighat (rent 10tk-20tk. Lawasara, Madhabpur lake are nearest tourist spots near Sreemangal.

Beauties beauty amazing 'Nilgiri'


 
Dream kingdom ‘Nilgiri’ is the highest hill resort of Bangladesh with amazing natural beauty. This wonderful Resort is located 47 km South-East of Bandarban town on Chimbuk Range at a height of 3600 feet from sea level. Here sky is making love with hill, Cloud kissed the greenish hilltop. One can touch the cloud, fell the cloud, catch the cloud. Here cloud plays, laugh and love. If you want you can love, you can touch, you can hold. It’s a romantic moment for the visitor. You will feel that you are flying in the sky over the cloud. Here heaven comes to the reality. The romantic feelings will make you bound the come here twice.
Nilgiri hill resort
 The way to visit here is very simple as the distance is 47km away from Bandarban. So you can visited here by Bus, microbus for more relax. If you get on a Bus from Dhaka at around 10 o’clock you will reach Bandarban at dawn. The facilities and services of Nilgiri are very fine. The army manages it systematically and orderly. If you go there, you can never forget the sightseeing and panoramic attractiveness of this sight. In Bandarban, you may find only chander gari or jeep (land cruiser) to visit Nilgiri. They will charge 2000-2500tk. per transport. You may use Ali kadam-Thanchi road to go there. The accommodation in Nilgiri, in fact, makes its difference. Good hotels are there at Bandarban city too. If you are a foreigner, you must take permission from DC, Chittagong to be at Nilgiri.



Nilgiri is mainly a rest house. It has a clean and healthy restaurant. So don’t worry about stomach! Rice, beef, mutton are prepared in bamboo without water is really mouth-watering. Every meal cost is about 200-500 BDT. They can provide various types of taste food.
